Everything You Need to Know About the Nantucket Ice Rink

Lace-up your skates for a Wayne Gretzky-style adventure this winter. The Nantucket Ice Rink is the perfect spot for beginners and advanced skaters alike to spend the day. From hockey to curling to learn-to-skate programs, there’s a little something for everyone on the ice. 

  • Public Skate

Nantucket Ice Rink offers public skating year-round. The facility offers general skating, as well as themed skates such as Adult Coffee Skate and Kids on Ice. Coupon books are available for purchase if you plan to attend more than once, and discounts are offered throughout the year. Check out their weekly schedule for information on times and programs.

Local Tip: Get there early as the rink fills up quickly, and you’ll want to reserve time to get geared up.

  • Learn to Skate

Nantucket’s Learn to Skate programs provides assistance for all skill levels. The level one class teaches fundamentals such as gliding forward and backward, stopping, and turning. The most advanced course offers instruction on turning patterns and difficult jumps and spins. Synchronized skating and hockey lessons are available, as well.

  • Ice Hockey

Get your work out in on the ice this vacation. Nantucket Ice offers several hockey programs from Puck and Stick to open hockey sessions. The rink makes it easy to enjoy a game of pick-up-stick from across the Atlantic. And if you’re a Massachusetts-native and hockey enthusiast, check out their men’s and women’s hockey leagues to give you an excuse to visit the island. 

  • Nantucket Curling Club

Experience something new at the Nantucket Curling Club. The league holds three sessions per year with unique opportunities to learn about the sport and become a pro yourself. No skill level or equipment is required to join.
